April 29, 2026 – Merced CHP officials report that on April 26, 2026, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a CHP officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. 

During contact with the driver, the officer observed pistol magazines inside the glove box. When questioned, the driver stated he did not have a firearm in his possession.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and the officer located a concealed firearm inside a small bag on the passenger seat. The firearm’s serial number was checked and returned as stolen out of Danville, CA.

The driver was taken into custody and arrested on multiple firearms-related charges.
