May 7, 2026 – Amador County Sheriff's Office officials report that on May 7, 2026, deputies with the Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report involving an allegedly intoxicated driver and a violent confrontation at the Gold Country Campground.
The reporting party contacted dispatch and stated that his neighbor had left the campground at a high rate of speed while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Deputies later located the suspect’s vehicle at the Pine Grove Market, where they observed several objective signs of intoxication during the contact. A preliminary alcohol screening revealed the suspects blood alcohol concentration at 0.20%.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant out of Calaveras County related to a previous assault with a deadly weapon charge. Deputies also learned that the suspect was subject to a release condition prohibiting the consumption of alcohol.
Deputies later re-contacted the reporting party, who reported that earlier in the day the suspect had allegedly charged him while holding a running chainsaw. Deputies determined the incident constituted an additional violation of assault with a deadly weapon.
The suspect was arrested on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and the outstanding felony warrant.
