May 22, 2026 – Sonora Police Department officials report that on May 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. officers with the
Sonora Police Department responded to Wilco regarding a male who entered the store, stole a Generac power bank valued at $1,699, and left in a white Ford Focus. The Sonora Police Department sent a (BOLO) Be On The Lookout to our partnering agencies. While officers were at Wilco, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle, and a pursuit ensued. The Sonora Police Department responded to Jamestown Road near Brennan Court, where the pursuit concluded, and, with the assistance of the Wilco associate, identified 34-year-old Paul Regruto of San Andreas as the theft suspect. Officers also learned Regruto was on Post Community Release Supervision out of Calaveras County and was searchable for stolen property. Officers recovered the stolen generator, found in Regruto’s possession.
Regruto was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony burglary, felony grand theft, felony PRCS violation and other charges filed by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
It’s important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes with which they’ve been charged. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
