May 29, 2026 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 27, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., deputies
from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 22000 block of West Point Pioneer Road in the town of West Point following reports of a shooting incident.
Dispatch advised responding deputies that an adult male had sustained a gunshot wound to a lower extremity and remained at the scene. Two adult male subjects were reportedly present during the incident; however, both had left the scene before deputies arrived.
Upon arriving on scene and securing the area, deputies immediately rendered medical aid to the victim. A deputy applied a tourniquet to the victim’s injury in order to stabilize him prior to his transport to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Detectives are actively analyzing physical, digital, and forensic evidence in an effort to identify and locate the individuals responsible.
Based on the information currently available, investigators believe this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another, and there is no known ongoing threat to public safety at this time.
