June 4, 2026 - Sierra National Forest officials report following the Code of Federal Regulations, the Sierra National Forest has issued Forest Order 05-15-00-26-04 as part of its responsibility for implementation of Designated Wilderness Use policies. The purpose of the Order is to protect natural resources and wilderness values while also providing for public safety. The Order is renewed every two years in accordance with The Wilderness Act, established 1964.
More specifically, Forest Order 05-15-00-26-04 aims to protect the following, on the Sierra National Forest, to include the Ansel Adams, John Muir, Kaiser, Dinkey Lakes, and Monarch Wilderness areas due to usage in these areas.
