High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

June 20, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials announce that at 10:00 a.m. today, on Saturday, June 20th, members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and North Central Fire Protection District will hand out more than 250 life jackets to residents, free of charge.

These adult, child and infant size jackets will be distributed simultaneously at the following four Fresno County Park locations: Skaggs Bridge Park, Lost Lake Park, Avocado Lake Park and Laton-Kingston Park. (Maps displayed in this order)

It will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. People must be present to receive a life jacket. If you already own a life jacket, we kindly ask that you give priority to those who do not.

Guests are asked to form a single file line at the distribution point, which is shown with a red dot on each attached park map. Judging from prior events, we expect all jackets to be handed out within 30 minutes.

Our goal is to get swimmers in the habit of wearing life jackets every time they get into a lake or river. We hope to make the thought process as routine as buckling a seat belt when you get into a vehicle.

We wish to thank our partners for making this event possible.
