Sierra Foothill Charter School staff members utilize Core Virtues curriculum to work with students throughout the month on key intellectual, moral, and civic virtues. At the end of each month, SFCS holds a school wide assembly to celebrate the core virtue of the month and students who have demonstrated by their actions what the virtue is all about. This month's virtue was perseverance.
SFCS 0183Congratulations to the SFCS students recognized for perseverance: Robbie Conley, Jaden DuBois, John Soldevila Villalba, Malaya Shelton, Samuel Harveston, Morgan Imrie, Deacon Lopes, Kensley Silva, Bailey O'Conner and Clyde Bell.
SFCS 0179Andrea Contreras' seventh and eighth graders started the assembly showcasing a video they made highlighting students discussing ways they persevere in their studies, in sports, and a variety of other way, along with short clips of students in action. The audience loved the video!
SFCS 0185Two of the youngest students recognized for perseverance -- Clyde Bell and Bailey O'Connor -- helped Principal Mindy Bolar with a drawing. Students who show exemplary behavior that goes above and beyond receive tickets from staff members who have noticed their behavior. Students go to the office and trade the tickets in immediately for a prize from the treasure chest or they put their ticket into a jar for a chance to win a grand prize at the end of the month.
SFCS 0187This month's grand prize winner was Levi Evans. Students will have a chance for a new grand prize at the end of October.
SFCS 0189Bailey O'Conner's mom, Cherise Wright, surprised her with balloons and flowers.
