M.A.G.E.C. Detectives Seize More Than Two Dozen Illegal Firearms, Arrest Suspect

June 27, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that detectives assigned to the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (M.A.G.E.C.) have arrested 31-year-old Cristian Nunez of Cutler. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges related to illegally possessing a modified AR-15, with a device that increased the rate of fire of the weapon system. His bail is set at $200,000.

On Wednesday, M.A.G.E.C. detectives made a traffic stop for a vehicle violation on American Avenue, north of Orange Cove. Upon contacting the driver, Cristian Nunez, the deputy saw an AR-15 rifle with a drum magazine on the seat of his vehicle. During the investigation, a search revealed Nunez possessed an aftermarket insert that increases the rate of fire of the weapon, which is illegal under California law.

M.A.G.E.C. detectives authored a search warrant and served it at Nunez’ home in the town of Cutler (Tulare County). During the search, detectives seized more than 25 illegal firearms from the home. Nunez is facing numerous additional felony charges.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
