June 28, 2026 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services officials offer advice on water safety when hiking, camping, or traveling to a place where the water quality is unknown.
Planning your summer outdoors trips, it's important to be safe.
If you are hiking or camping or traveling to a place where the water quality is unknown, it's good to know how to stay safe by disinfecting water.
Contaminated or potentially contaminated water should be disinfected prior to drinking, using it for cooking or preparing food and drinks, making ice, and even brushing your teeth to keep you from getting sick with symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
