Picture shows an example of a Biomass plant
The Mariposa Biomass Project is moving forward with plans for a small biomass plant in Mariposa.
Locations have been scouted, grant money has been located, and there is interest from large companies wanting to build the plant.
It would be a place to burn wood chips from the dead trees and generate electricity. It would be encloses and would have to meet very strict air pollution control measures. Biochar, a valuable soil amendment for agricultural uses, is a by-product, as well as heat that could be used for a variety of business types.
Studies have shown there is a large fuel source that could give the plant a 20 year life span.
For all the details, please plan to attend a short presentation by Steve Smallcombe on Saturday, October 8, at 9:45 a.m. at Miner's Roadhouse.
This event is sponsored by the Mariposa Democratic Club and will be held in the meeting room at the Roadhouse. If you would like to buy breakfast please arrive at 9:00 a.m.
