July 2, 2026 - The Sierra National Forest has issued Forest Order No. 05-15-00-26-07, effective July 2 through September 23, 2026.

This order updates the current Recreation Site, Road, and Trail Closure list by reopening the Ross Crossing Dispersed Camping Area and the Hemlock Crossing bridge is being replaced after sustaining damage during winter storms. The Stevenson Trail remains open to Hemlock Crossing Bridge. The bridge crossing itself and the camping area within 300yrds of the bridge are closed. The bridge is expected to re-open within a month.

To protect public safety, the order prohibits:

  • Entering or using the recreation sites listed in Exhibit A
  • Being on the National Forest System roads listed in Exhibit A
  • Being on the National Forest System trails listed in Exhibit A

Exemptions apply for individuals such as authorized permit holders, emergency responders, and those accessing private property. Businesses may use Forest roads only as needed to conduct their operations.

These restrictions are enforceable under federal law. Violations may result in fines or imprisonment.

The order was signed on July 1, 2026.
