Fatal Crash – Road 209 south of Road 406
July 11, 2026 – Madera CHP officials report that on Monday, July 6, 2026, just before noon, CHP Madera officers responded to a solo-vehicle traffic crash, at Road 209 south of Road 406.
Officers learned the following:
A 63-year-old man from Madera, CA was driving a gray 2020 Kia Forte, traveling northbound on Road 209, approaching a curve in the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway onto the west shoulder and collided with an embankment.
The 63-year-old male suffered minor injuries. An 84-year-old female passenger was also injured and was transported from the scene to Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) for medical care.
On July 8, 2026, the 84-year-old female was pronounced deceased at CRMC due to the injuries sustained during the crash.
This crash remains under investigation. Both parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor.
The road may twist and turn—but your focus should never waver. Speed, distractions, and impatience are a dangerous combination on curvy roads.
