CoyoteFest 0CoyoteFest 2016 was the Howlin’ Best Yet!

Article by Dale Silverman

“Coulterville hasn't seen so many people since the Gold Rush.” notes Mirium Jones.  “If we keep growing, we’ll have booths all the way up to the schoolhouse” exclaimed Sandy Richesin, vendor co-chair.  “Photos and kudos are popping up all across the internet!” exclaimed Nina Mimnaugh, Car Show chair.”

The parade was filled with floats, horses, bands, youth groups and lots of patriotism, with the Tom Jenkins VFW post leading the way, followed by the E Clampus Vitus Matuca Chapter carrying their Bennington flag. Alberta Jeffery Garret rode in style as the Grand Marshall, the local branches of fire and sheriff’s offices were well represented and many of the hot rods, antique and classic cars made their was down main St. before parking in the car show.

Outgrowing the Coulterville Park, vendors lined both Park St. and one side of Main St. with 52 amazing cars filling Main St.  The crowds were so large that vendors and Coulterville’s merchants were kept busy all day!

Nearly 50 contestants, ranging in age from 2 to about 72, howled very attention-grabbing, sometimes authentically eerie howls.   The local hillbillies put on a rousing hilarious performance to a really, really big audience, as the park filled early with visitors and was still jam packed as the day’s events were winding down at 4 pm!
