Catheys Valley Fall Festival – Fun for All!
A group of young costume contest contestants from last year's Fall Festival.
Fall Festival is a fantastic community event happening Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 12 to 4 PM at Catheys Valley Park.
This is a fun occasion for children to celebrate Halloween and for the community to get together and enjoy each other's company.
“Fall Festival is a really great tradition in Catheys Valley,” said event organizer Stephanie Evans. “It’s something a lot of people look forward to. Catheys Valley Park is a great venue as it allows us to have many activities and to have lots of local vendors participate as well, giving the community a nice opportunity to do some early holiday shopping and support local businesses.”
Tristen McCulloch tries to toss a stuffed animal through the opening, one of the many Fall Festival games, as onlookers cheer.
So far, this year’s vendors include Raw Roots Farm (they will have pumpkins for sale and will have decorating activities!); Bagels and Jelly by Heather and Shelly; Usborne Books; Feline Goddess Creations; Sierra Sisters’ Designs; Honeybees Face Painting; DayDreamer Boutique; and Origami Owl Jewelry. Catheys Valley 4-H will also be there with a booth.
If you have items to sell or services to advertise and would like to participate with a booth at Fall Festival, contact Stephanie Evans: steph@sierrafoothillcharterschool.org.
Fall Festival includes a very popular costume contest divided by age groups. It begins at 12:30 PM. Categories are: prettiest, scariest, and most original.

The field at Catheys Valley Park will be taken over with a variety of games for the kids to play for prizes. In addition, there will be bounce houses and a petting farm with miniature animals. There will be fun demonstrations to watch, including a “Thrill the World” zombie flash mob dance. If you are interested in learning the Thriller dance, rehearsals are taking place every Tuesday afternoon at the Mariposa County Courthouse lawn from 5:15- 6 PM, or you can learn the dance at your convenience through the videos posted at this link: thrilltheworld.com/learn-the-dance.
In addition, Fall Festival includes an ever-popular cake walk. The Blacksmith Shop will be open for viewing and a fire truck will be available for kids to check out.
Sierra Foothill Charter School seventh and eighth graders are transforming the Old School House into the Haunted School House, where they will star in their own spooky tale of student life… and mayhem!
Fifth through eighth graders will have a booth with very special silent auction items, like a beginner’s class to learn crack climbing in Yosemite, to raise funds for their 3 day, 2 nights to Yosemite through NatureBridge in December.
The old school house will once again be turned in the Spooky Haunted School House for this year's Fall Festival.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Wrist bands are available for playing games: $7 for individuals or $20 for a family of four with additional family members costing $3 each. Cake walk tickets are 5 for $1.
