July 28, 2026 - Sonora, CA – CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers arrested 30-year-old Jacob Williams Hoskins on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Tuolumne County. Through an extensive investigation, Hoskins, of Sonora, was identified as the suspect responsible for causing the Dove Fire on July 26, 2026. The Dove Fire occurred in the greater downtown area of Sonora in Tuolumne County. The Dove Fire burned approximately 223 acres of vegetation.

Hoskins was arrested on the charge of California Penal Code § 452 (c), Recklessly Causing a Fire. For more information contact the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office.

The arrest and comprehensive investigation were a collaborative effort between multiple agencies consisting of CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit and CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit Law Enforcement Bureaus, Sonora Police Department and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

CAL FIRE would like to thank the community for providing tips to law enforcement that helped lead to the arrest of Hoskins.
