Rural Crimes Investigation Unit Copper Wire and Drug Arrest 

July 30, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 9, 2026, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Investigations Unit served a search warrant in the area of the 8300 block of Fuller Avenue regarding a copper wire theft.

During the investigation, detectives identified ANGEL ADAN GARCIA (age 26) as the suspect related to multiple copper wire thefts in the Lamont area. During the service of the search warrant, deputies located GARCIA and DARRYL MOODY (age 34), at the residence.

​​​​​​​Detectives were familiar with MOODY because over the last five months, MOODY had been arrested three times for possession of stolen copper wire. Detectives recovered stolen copper wire from the residence. Detectives also located stolen vehicles being dismantled on the property and stolen vehicle parts.

GARCIA was arrested for PC 496A(A)- possession of stolen copper wire, PC 182(A)(1)- conspiracy, PC 496D(A)- possession of a stolen vehicle, PC 10801- operating a chop shop, and PC 666.1(A)(1)- committing theft with priors.

MOODY was arrested for PC 496A(A)- possession of stolen copper wire, PC 182(A)(1)- conspiracy, HS 11377(A)- possession of a controlled substance, and HS 11364(A)- possession of drug paraphernalia.
