Kidnapping & Domestic Violence 

August 26, 2026 – Clovis Police Department officials report that a suspect is in custody facing felony domestic violence and kidnapping charges following an incident near Herndon and Fowler on Tuesday morning. Just before 8:00 A.M., several callers reported a male who had just hit a woman, forced her into a vehicle, and drove away. Clovis Police officers immediately responded, canvassed the area, and began investigating leads to locate the suspect and victim.

Using the information provided by multiple 911 callers and technology, officers and detectives located the vehicle in Fresno with both the suspect and victim inside. The suspect was arrested without incident, and the victim is now safe. The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Steven Hamby of Clovis. Hamby has been booked into Fresno County Jail for kidnapping, domestic violence, and possession of a controlled substance.
