Trained volunteer tutors work with learners on a one-to-one basis in the Library or other public location. Learners work at their own pace to achieve goals they set for themselves, such as helping children with homework, passing a driver’s test, or writing a letter. Help with preparation for the GED and HiSet high school equivalency exams, including math, and for the U.S. citizenship test is also available.
All program materials are provided free of charge to learners. Hours are flexible to fit in with the learner’s schedule.
For more information, email kdusek@mariposacountylib.org, call the Mariposa Library, (209) 966-2140 or stop by the Library during normal hours of operation. Leave your name and phone number or e-mail address and the Literacy Coordinator will contact you.
The adult literacy program is funded in part by a grant from the California State Library. Other supporters include the Mariposa Rotary Club, Friends of the Mariposa Library and Sierra Telephone.
