September 6, 2026 - Washington, D.C. — On Friday, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement after the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Office of Inspector General launched an investigation into the Postal Service’s rushed, faulty, and dangerous implementation of President Trump’s executive order to curb mail-in voting.

“Just days after all Oversight Democrats and Ranking Member Joe Morelle wrote to the Inspector General, the top watchdog at the USPS informed us they are opening an investigation into the Trump Administration’s attempt to undermine vote-by-mail. Donald Trump’s attempt to potentially interfere with our elections and oppress millions of ballots will be fought every step of the way. We will continue fighting to defend vote-by-mail for every single American,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.
