Traffic Stop Leads to Loaded Firearm Arrest 

September 7, 2026 – Auburn Police Department officials report that early on Sunday morning, Officer Campos conducted a traffic stop on a black Tesla after the driver treated a red light more like a stop sign.

During the investigation, officers identified the driver as Antonio Scott and learned he was on parole for a violation of PC 245 - Assault with a deadly weapon. Scott was detained while officers conducted a parole search of the vehicle.

Officers learned Scott was known to carry firearms and attempted to access the vehicle’s glove box. That became difficult when Scott claimed he had “forgotten” the passcode needed to open it.

Placer County Sheriff's Office responded with K9 Sonic to assist. During an article search of the vehicle, Sonic showed interest in the glove box.

Officers ultimately forced the glove box open and located a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine. Scott was arrested for the firearm violation.

And before the comments section launches its own investigation... the dirty car in the photo is the suspect’s Tesla. APD vehicles have standards.
