September 7, 2026 – By Anita Starchman Bryant, Publicity Chair – Pioneer Market generously includes Soroptimist International of Mariposa in its charitable giving program. A percentage of the total of Pioneer Market receipts collected by Soroptimist was recently donated to the organization.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment, specifically those facing significant obstacles.

Soroptimists volunteer their talents and energy to help women and girls live their dreams every day by giving them the resources to create positive change—for themselves, their families and their communities.  The Soroptimist mission of improving the lives of women and girls is exemplified by its major project, the Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women (formerly Women’s Opportunity Awards). 

In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves their mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, sponsoring the high school prom dress project “The Elegant Dress Closet,” and donating funds to organizations such as Manna House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to all in need and the J.C. Fremont Healthcare District for women’s health issues.  Soroptimist International of Mariposa is currently seeking new members.
