CHP Traffic Stop Leads to $1.36 Million Meth Seizure
September 17, 2026 – Merced CHP officials report that on September 10, 2026, a CHP Central Division Canine Officer conducted an enforcement stop on a 2026 Dodge Durango in Merced County for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, the officer observed indicators of possible criminal activity. K-9 Shei was deployed around the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics.
A subsequent probable cause search revealed approximately 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $1,362,000.
The driver was taken into custody and later booked into the Merced County Jail for possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale.
