By Linda Gast - My first thought upon entering the John C Fremont Hospital Black and White Ball was that this can't be Building A at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. The building had been transformed into a magical sea of tiny white lights, covered with gauze material. The round tables were covered with black table clothes and the elegant table settings were set off with a center piece of white and red roses.
What a lot of time and effort was put in by Suzette Prue, Trent Williams, Marge Tifft and Oralee Phillips to pull off this transformation. My next thought was "Who are these people?" I am accustomed to seeing most of them in their jeans and boots and here were elegant looking women in beautiful gowns and men in tuxes.
The Black and White Ball was the kick off for the John C. Fremont Healthcare District and the John C. Fremont Foundations Fundraising efforts to build a new hospital.
They hope to raise $38 Million dollars and the fund raising was started off by a donation from Troy and Shirley Foster of Foster's True Value. The auction and raffle helped with the fund raising. Suzette Prue, dressed in a black tux and a red feather boa, put her all into the auction.
The Smooth Jazz Ensemble provided the music for the evening. Couples rocked to the music and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The service of the hors d'oeuvre and dinner was excellent and the food, catered by BB's catering was delicious.
