Many people have heard about the “Honor Flights” in which Veterans from World War II and the Korean War are flown to Washington D.C. to see the National World War II and the Korean War Memorials.  It’s a wonderful program that gives many of those Veterans a memorable trip and long overdue honor.

Unfortunately, there are some of these Veterans who, due to health reasons, cannot take part in an Honor Flight trip to our Nation’s Capital.  Three of these Veterans from the ‘greatest generation’ reside in the Ewing Wing, John C. Fremont Hospital’s skilled nursing unit.  They are Robert ‘Bud’ Puckett, Private First Class, Marines, and Guy Clements, T6 Corporal, Army, who both served in the Pacific venue in WWII, and Jesse Lopez, Private First Class, Army, who served in Korea.

The hospital has planned an Honor Ceremony for them.  It will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 3:00-4:30 p.m., at the Senior Center on Spriggs Lane.   The public is welcome to attend.  Three DVDs will be shown, a tour of the World War II Memorial, a tour of the Korean War Memorial, and one showing the laying of the wreath at Arlington Cemetery.  There will be a few presentations and other surprises, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary is serving refreshments.  Of course, this is a time where people can shake their hand and thank them for their service and for the sacrifices they and their whole generation made in the war efforts.

For more information, please contact Lorna Coci, Public Relations Coordinator, John C. Fremont Healthcare District, at 209-966-3631, ext. 173.
