November 4, 2026 – Clovis Police Department officials report that a suspect was arrested on an elementary school campus on Tuesday morning after he tried stealing a car and running from officers. Just after 9:30 A.M. on November 3, 2026, Clovis Police officers were dispatched for a suspect trying to steal a car at an apartment complex near Sunnyside and Shaw. Witnesses reported that the suspect ran towards Clovis Avenue, and officers had assistance from overhead from our Drone First Responder (DFR) and Fresno Police Department’s helicopter. The suspect was arrested by officers after he ran onto the campus of Sierra Vista Elementary School at Barstow and Pollasky.

Sierra Vista Elementary was placed on a brief “lockdown” due to the police activity on and around their campus. School staff also placed Clark Intermediate on a “shelter in place” order and Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) on a lockdown during the police activity. Both lockdowns and the shelter in place were lifted as soon as it was determined to be safe.

During a search of the suspect’s property, officers located evidence from another attempted grand theft of a vehicle in a neighboring apartment complex. The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Isaac Paradise of Clovis. He was booked into Fresno County Jail and is facing several felonies. All stolen property has also been returned to the victims. The Clovis Police Department would like to thank Fresno Police and the Clovis Unified School District Police Department for their assistance with this incident.
