November 5, 2026 - Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) released the following statement after Democrats won majorities in both the House and Senate in the midterm elections:

“Last night, Americans across the country sent a message loud and clear: America belongs to all of us, not just the billionaires and special interests who have been getting the red carpet treatment while working families struggle to make ends meet.

“The American people were fed up with a Congress that looks away from Trump's corruption and rubberstamps his sweetheart deals. The Great Gatsby party is over. Come January, Democrats will use the awesome power the American people just gave us to follow the money, drag corruption into the daylight, and hold this administration accountable for putting the wealthy and well-connected ahead of struggling families.

“We're fired up to get to work on what voters just mandated us to do: bring down costs, protect the lands and waters we all share, and make sure people can afford to build a life in the places they call home. The American people voted for a government that works for them, and we're going to fight like hell to deliver.”
