November 25, 2016 - California State Senator Tom Berryhill is reminding constituents the deadline is approaching for the Maddy Institute legislative intern scholar program.

The Maddy Institute was established to engage, prepare and inspire the next generation of government leaders and civil servants. Our activities primarily focus on: Citizen Participation, Policy Research and Leadership Training. To that end, the Maddy Institute offers an extensive government intern program, offering university students the opportunity to work in federal and state legislative offices in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, as well as local government offices throughout the San Joaquin Valley.

About the Legislative Internship Program:

Legislative Scholar-Interns are placed on assignment in regional government offices, as well as in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. The Legislative Internship Program provides students with opportunities to develop public leadership skills while gaining practical knowledge of the day-to-day operations of government and the political process. Legislative Scholar-Interns receive academic credit as well as a stipend. Examples of placements include: U.S. Senate and Congressional offices (Capitol and district offices), California Assembly and Senate offices (Capitol and district offices) and the Governor’s Office.

Spring 2017 Legislative Intern Scholar Program: Application postmarked, delivered, emailed, or faxed by 5 p.m. PDT on Friday, December 2nd, 2016

Eligibility:

Must have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher;
Must be at least a Junior in standing (60 units completed) OR
Must be a Graduate student in standing.
