HAPPY NEW YEAR!

JANUARY 8th BREAKFAST
Now that the excitement of the Holidays is behind us, it can be pretty quiet around here.  Stay in touch!  Come on down to the Old Schoolhouse on Sunday, January 8th for the Northern Mariposa County History Center Breakfast.  Enjoy a great breakfast of pancakes, eggs cooked to order, ham or sausage and fresh fruit from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Adults are $5.00, children $3.00 and a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) is just $15.00.  The Old Schoolhouse is located at the corner of Broadway and Cemetery St.

Congratulations to Florence Egger, who was our first place winner of the 2016 Holiday Drawing, taking home the terrific Smoker that was donated by Paul Martin and to our second place winner, Teri Jetter, who won the ecru tablecloth donated by Jo Day and the centerpiece donated by Sierra Flowers.

NEW DOCENT TRAINING
If your New Year’s resolutions included giving back to your community or getting out of the house more, contact MaryAnn Huff at 209-878-0111.  New Docent training will now be available on the second Sunday each month following the NMCHC breakfast.  New docents will have their breakfast “on the house” and will then remain at the schoolhouse where Hank Gilliam will distribute materials, review procedures and assign a mentor for each “newbie”.  Just a 3-hour commitment per month, February through December is needed.  New docents joining in January will also have an opportunity to meet the rest of the wonderful group of Docent volunteers at an appreciation luncheon that will take place on Tuesday, February 7th following an educational walk-thru of the new museum exhibits.

LIGHTS! CAMERA!!! ACTION!!!
The Museum will reopen with its popular annual Gala event, this year themed – Lights! Camera!! Action!!!.  It will take place from 2 - 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th.  This annual fund-raiser sets the tone for the upcoming year. It also gives our many members and others from the community a chance to see the new displays at the museum.  If anyone happens to have any antique Hollywood (Western preferred) memorabilia they would be willing to loan to the museum, either for the day or for the year, please call 209-878-3015 and leave your contact information.  For those who loaned us items for this past year’s displays, a big thank you and a reminder to call and arrange pick-up of your items during January.

Be sure and check out what’s happening at the museum on the “Northern Mariposa County History Center” Facebook page.  The Northern Mariposa County History Center is a 501c3 private, non-profit charitable organization established in 1976, with the Coulterville museum opening to the public in 1980.  Displays and historic photos provide an authentic glimpse of the life and times of the pioneers who helped settle the local area in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. It is dependent on community support for its operations.  Come get involved!
