Mariposa County LibraryFree computer classes will return to the Mariposa Library on Thursday, January 5, 2017 and will continue throughout the year on the first and fourth Thursday of the month from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Classes will be taught by Jerry Wagner and the staff of Red Tail Ridge Technical Services in Mariposa.

The program will be structured around a lecture/lab format in which participants will put to practice in the second class what they have learned in the first class using Netbooks provided for their use or their own personal laptops.

The topic for January is “An Introduction to PC Computers” for beginning computer users.  The class will cover such subjects as:

·        Basic instructions and functionality, including the proper way to turn a computer on and off, setting up a printer, and setting up WiFi;

·        backup and security, such as malware and anti-virus protection; and,

·        general maintenance, including setting the restore point, restoring from the restore point, defragmenting and disk browser clean-up.

Topics for future classes will be based on the results of a survey available at the library and on the library website at MariposaLibrary.org.  Or you may email karen.dusek@mariposalibrary.org with suggestions and requests. Topics may range from beginning to advanced and can include PC or Mac computers, cell phones, Ipads and other devices.

Space is limited, and registration is required. To register, call the Library at 209-966-2140 during business hours, email Karen Dusek at the above address, or sign up in person at the Library.
