Recently, Jake Fleener and Jean Okuye from the East Merced River Conservation District visited Erika Miranda's fifth and sixth graders at Sierra Foothill Charter School. The EMRCD provides natural resource education and conservation programs in Eastern Merced County. 

Knowing that members of class recently finished researching the Merced River as an ecosystem of their choosing, Jake and Jean showed students animals skins from predators and prey that are located along the Merced River.

They also explained the importance of watershed conservation and demonstrated different scenarios using an interactive watershed model they brought with them. Students learned a lot and very much enjoyed the visit!
