January 24, 2017 - The CHP Oakhurst office issues a warning! Overnight temperatures expected to drop below freezing. This is how black ice forms.
What did we learn from the multiple ice collisions from last week?
Motorists were driving too fast for conditions. Even when roads are sanded the roadway is still slick.
SLOW your speed WAY down. Wear your seatbelt. Stay off the brake as much as possible. Don't slam or hit brakes hard. Tap or pump.
Leave extra room between other vehicles. Allow extra time for getting to your destination.
