February 8, 2017 - The National Weather Service in Hanford CA. has issued a Flood Watch at 12:46 P.M. PST Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
MORE RAIN ON THE WAY... . Another warm and moist pacific storm will bring periods of heavy rain from Thursday night through Friday night.

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a * Flood Watch for a portion of central California, including the following areas, East Central San Joaquin Valley, Kern County Mountains, Mariposa, Madera, and Fresno County Foothills, Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon, Southeastern San Joaquin Valley, Southwestern San Joaquin Valley, Tulare County Foothills, Tulare County Mountains, and West Central San Joaquin Valley.
* Periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected to start towards the northern portion of the San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park during the late afternoon on Thursday...then spread southward overnight reaching the Tule River basin. The heavier rain may hold off until Friday in the Tehachapi Mountains.
* The heaviest rain is expected across the Sierra Nevada with lesser amounts towards the west side of the San Joaquin Valley. Rainfall accumulations of a half inch to over 1 inch are possible in the San Joaquin Valley...with 2 to 4 inches possible in the higher terrain. Snow levels have risen to above 8000 feet and will result in additional runoff from melting snow, but snow levels will gradually lower to around 7,000 feet by Friday afternoon.
* Runoff from the rain and melting snow will cause rises in rivers and streams. Mudslides and rockslides are also expected and can lead to road closures.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
