Under direction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, increased releases of water will be made on Sunday from New Exchequer Dam, east of Snelling.
The reservoir is owned and managed by Merced Irrigation District. However, the Army Corps of Engineers provides direction on flood management activities. The increased water releases are intended to provide needed additional space for storm water in Lake McClure. MID reports the reservoir is about 90 percent full and continuing to rise.
