Cash prizes for both tagged and largest fish, up to $500

April 12, 2017 - MID Parks and Recreation will hold the two-dayTrout Derby and Prize Drawing at Lake McClure on April 29 and 30. Registration is free and forms can be completed at any time during the weekend or printed off in advance from www.lakemclure.com. No registration is required in advance, nor will it be accepted prior to the weekend of the Derby. Cash prizes will be provided for the largest fish caught as well as for tagged fish during the derby. Additionally, a prize drawing will be held.

Participants are urged to make camping reservations early. Sites can be reserved online at www.lakemcclure.com or by calling 1-855-800-CAMP (2267).

All activities will be held at the Barrett Cove Marina. The marina is located at 3100 Barrett Cove Road and is accessible from Merced Falls Road.

Planted trout have been tagged with $25, $50 and $100 tags. Additionally, anglers with the five largest trout caught during the Derby will receive cash prizes ranging from $500 for first place to $50 for fifth place.

The Derby will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday April 29, and conclude at noon on Sunday April 30. All eligible fish must be fresh caught and weighed during this time at the Barrett Cove Marina. Booth hours for weighing will coincide with the Derby hours. All winners of cash prizes must submit a submission affidavit form to MID Parks and Recreation for payment at the Barrett Cove booth during the Derby.

Tickets for prize drawings can be purchased for $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. The prize drawing will be held at noon on Sunday April 30 at the tournament booth at Barrett Cove Marina.

Derby participants age 16 and older must have a valid California Fishing License in their possession. All fish must be caught in compliance with California Sport Fishing Regulations, and during the times of the Derby.

In addition to the planted trout for the Derby, four Gold Tagged Trout remain in Lake McClure: each is worth $500. Gold Tagged Trout will receive payment of $500 but not count toward additional winnings under the Trout Derby and Prize Drawing event.
