AAUW logoThe Mariposa branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be hosting a free public program featuring Executive Director Bridget Fithian and Membership Coordinator Nancy Fluharty of the Sierra Foothill Conservancy on Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Miner’s Roadhouse 140.

Have you ever wondered what the Sierra Foothill Conservancy does? From their website SierraFoothill.org: “Sierra Foothill Conservancy protects places that have stories and places that continue to make memories for generations to come.

“The grasslands, foothills, and forests between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National parks provide land for farms and ranches, a home for native plants and wildlife, and a source of clean water.  Sierra Foothill Conservancy honors our natural and cultural heritage by protecting these resources and ensuring that present and future generations will continue to experience and enjoy the land in this region.”

Did you know that the Sierra Foothill Conservancy is the reason there are hiking/biking trails around the Mariposa Reservoir? Come learn about the important work the conservancy does for us and the county in which we live, their latest projects, and their next sponsored hike.

This event is just one of several school and community programs offered by Mariposa AAUW, a branch of the 133-year-old national organization dedicated to advancing equity and lifelong learning for women and girls. For more information, visit aauwmariposa.com.
