Julia is a Coast Miwuk-Kashaya Pomo basket weaver.
She first learned basket making from her husband’s grandmother, Lucy Telles of the Sierra Miwok and Mono Lake Paiute tribes.
Julia worked in Yosemite National Park as a cultural specialist in the Yosemite Museum for 68 years and now lives in Mariposa with her family.
Julia will share her stories, discuss the art of basketry, and demonstrate her craft at the admission free event on Sunday at the Museum.
