Mariposa County to hold 1st Annual Elder Empowerment Against Abuse Community Event on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Mariposa Senior Activity Center, located at 5246 Spriggs Lane in Mariposa. This NEW senior educational event is a collaborative effort of several Mariposa County departments. 

Guest Speakers Include: 

  • Catherine Driver a Catholic Charities Motherlode Regional Director and a Senior Services Director. She will give a talk on the "Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program".

  • Brian Quinn a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. He will give a talk on “Mental Wellness as We Age: Loss, Grief, Acceptance, and Carrying on”.

  • Suzanne Schultz with the Family Crimes Unit of the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office and Rob Iwama the Dep. District Attorney of Mariposa County. They will discuss a CASE Program on “Communities Against Senior Exploitation”.

  • “Skip” Swain an Elder Crimes Detective from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department and Aaron Akbiyikian a Major Crimes Detective with the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department. They will give a discussion on “Scams Impacting the Elderly”.
