Madera County Sheriff logoAn MCAlert has been issued for Oakhurst Elementary area due to a Sinkhole. Monitor the situation and be prepared to take appropriate action. Estimated time of repair and reopening is a minimum of two days, and is possibly over a week.

The closure shall remain in effect for that time. All businesses, schools, churches and residences in the area are still accessible. If you are accessing anything east of the First Baptist Church (49547 Road 427), please use Elliot Drive or Hangtree Lane. If you are accessing the church or anything west of it, please use Road 426 to access Road 427.


A Warning has been issued for School Road due to sinkhole. Be careful of your surroundings and drive with caution. An evacuation shelter has not been established. THERE IS A REPORT OF A 12 INCH IN DIAMETER SINKHOLE JUST PAST OAKHURST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BEFORE YOU PASS THE FIRST CHURCH. PLEASE USE A DETOUR OF ELLIOT AND ROAD 426 OR HANGTREE ROAD 426 THE ROAD CLOSURE WILL BE OVERNIGHT

Monitor the situation and be prepared to take action immediately. Don’t wait for an evacuation order to leave if you feel threatened. Please immediately comply with any evacuation orders issued if they include your residence. If you need evacuation assistance, call 9-1-1.
