September 5, 2014 - WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the August jobs report:

“After another monthly jobs report far below expectations, we find ourselves asking yet again, ‘Is this really the best we can do?’ And the answer, unfortunately, is that until Democrats stop pushing an anti-growth agenda, we can’t expect job creation to get much better,” said Chairman Priebus.

“There’s a little good news here for the people that did find jobs last month. But for the millions and millions of Americans who are tired of looking for jobs that don’t exist, there’s not much to smile about. We also can’t forget about those who aren’t represented in the unemployment rate: Americans who have given up looking for jobs altogether or have taken part-time work when they need full-time work.

“We can do better than this. In fact, we must do better than this. Republicans in the House of Representatives have passed 43 jobs bills, but Senate Democrats and the president are ignoring those bills. The unemployed deserve a vote, and if Harry Reid won’t allow one, then Americans deserve new leadership in the Senate.

“In November, voters will have a chance to send Republicans to the Senate who will vote to stop policies like ObamaCare from destroying jobs and vote for legislation, like approving the Keystone Pipeline, that will create jobs. Jobs and opportunity will remain Republicans’ top priorities.”
