May 10, 2022 - The big issues facing our county have not improved over the last few years. It’s time for an unbiased steadfast resident who lives these challenges and can work with all groups to get involved! Our county, like everywhere else is continually drifting away from the opportunity to own and operate your own place and we are consequently losing our freedoms. The regulations and costs threatening our homes mostly come from outside the County. As necessary as outside dollars have been, and are, I don’t think we have tried hard enough to strengthen Mariposa from within by incentivizing and helping in every-way possible our residents. I always look through the lens of hiring from within Mariposa and working with Mariposa resources first! This combined with what I have in common with my diverse district make me the better choice this time around. I have worked and lived in grazing country with our small family cattle operation and I own horses. I have lived and worked in timber country managing a sustainable yield timber farm for the last 13 years. This work encompasses all phases of forest management and fuels mitigation. I also have worked in wild-land firefighting. I have lived and worked in the park, 20 years as a part time ski instructor at Badger and my children attended both park schools while living in Wawona. I have worked in all phases of residential construction, building houses by myself and working with local contractors in Madera and Mariposa Counties off and on since attending Yosemite High School. I have worked with budgets; I managed the accounting at Erna’s Elderberry House for 20 years and I produce a budget for the timber farm. I am a Marine, I volunteer with the Sheriffs Department and participate with County Government. These experiences give me common ground with all county departments and county residents, giving me the ability to facilitate collaborative solutions across the board. My boots-on-the-ground experience and the strong need to protect my home, OUR home, make me right for the job. Thank you and God bless!
