April 15, 2021 - LOS ANGELES — California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are searching for Jaime Clara, an offender who walked Jaime Clara 240x300away from the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility in Los Angeles on April 14.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., MCRP officials determined Clara had departed the MCRP without authorization and an emergency search was immediately initiated. Within minutes, agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were dispatched to locate and apprehend Clara. Notification also was made to local law enforcement agencies.

Clara, 31, is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 265 pounds. He was received by CDCR from Los Angeles County on Feb. 27, 2020, sentenced to four years for corporal injury on specific persons resulting in traumatic condition, a secondstrike offense.  Clara arrived at the MCRP on March 18, 2021. He was scheduled to be released from CDCR custody on June 17, 2022.

Anyone who sees Clara or has any knowledge of his whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911.

The MCRP allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for male offenders who have approximately one year left to serve. The program links offenders to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without without permission have been apprehended.
