May 17, 2021 - ACTON, CA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are looking for a minimum-security offender who walked away from Acton Conservation Camp (CC #11) in Los Angeles County on May 16, 2021.

During an inmate count at around 9 p.m., staff discovered inmate Erick Mendiola, 25, missing. A search of the camp buildings and grounds was immediately conducted. Dunn was last seen at 7 p.m. CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety, California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have been notified and are assisting in the search.

Mendiola is a Hispanic male, 5’7 feet tall, weighing 215 pounds with brown eyes, and black hair. He was committed to CDCR on October 22, 2019, from Stanislaus County to serve a six-year sentence for Evading a Peace Officer while Driving Recklessly and Second Degree Robbery. He was scheduled to parole on March 1, 2022. 

Anyone who sees Mendiola should contact 911 or law enforcement authorities immediately. Anyone having information about or knowledge of the location of Mendiola should contact Acton Conservation Camp Commander, Lieutenant D.E. Foote, at (661) 268-0113.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
