June 11, 2023 - Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 8, 2023, at approximately 10:53 P.M., the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person who had crashed his ATV in the Glamis sand dunes. At approximately 6:00 PM the missing person contacted his brother advising him that he had crashed and was injured, and he did not know his location. Friends and family of the missing person conducted a search for him over several hours, however they were unsuccessful in locating him. At approximately 8:00 PM, contact with the missing person was lost, and at that point his family contacted ICSO Dispatch to report the incident.

ICSO deputies responded to the area in an attempt to locate the missing person, and an emergency ping of his cell phone was conducted. ICSO requested the assistance of De Anza Search & Rescue and REACH 11 air medical. REACH 11 and De Anza Search & Rescue conducted a search that lasted one hour before the person was located. The person was then transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.

ICSO would like to thank REACH 11 and our volunteers at De Anza Search & Rescue for their assistance with this incident.
