June 12, 2023 - LOS ANGELES – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are searching for Aleisha Schmitz, who walked away from the Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program (CCTRP) Sunday evening.

At approximately 7:10 p.m. on June 11, Schmitz was seen entering a gray or silver Mercedes outside the CCTRP. Shortly after officials received an alert from Schmitz’s monitoring device. Within minutes, agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were dispatched to locate and apprehend Schmitz and notification was made to local law enforcement.

Schmitz, 25, is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 197 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and a light complexion. She was last seen wearing a blue jacket and gray sweats. She was received from Los Angeles County on July 7, 2022, sentenced to three years for second-degree robbery and hit and run causing injury of person other than self.

Anyone who sees Schmitz or has any knowledge of her whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911.

The CCTRP allows eligible incarcerated people to serve their sentence in the community, in lieu of confinement in state prison. The CCTRP will provide a range of rehabilitative services that assist with alcohol and drug recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all incarcerated people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
