June 18, 2023 - Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on June 17, 2023, at about 6:40 A.M., the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on the hillside of Westlake Blvd., south of Potrero Road. Upon arrival, a deputy located a single vehicle approximately 75 feet up the hillside from the roadway. The deputy discovered an unresponsive solo occupant in the vehicle. Ventura County Fire Department also responded and pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
Traffic investigators arrived at the scene and the initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling southbound on Westlake Blvd. and left the roadway south of Potrero Road. The vehicle drove up an embankment and collided with a Southern California Edison pole before coming to rest approximately 270 feet from where it left the roadway.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Bureau and Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Senior Deputy Marcos Moreno at (805) 494-8245.
