Fatal Traffic Collision 

June 20, 2023 - Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on June 19, 2023, at 4:33 A.M., deputies from the Moreno Valley Station received a call of a major injury traffic collision on Lasselle Street and Calle Agua in Moreno Valley. Deputies, along with paramedics from CalFire, responded within minutes and located the collision. Upon arrival, deputies observed obvious signs of death and declared both drivers deceased. There were no other occupants inside the vehicles. Northbound lanes of Lasselle Street were closed in the immediate area to safely process the collision. The Moreno Valley Traffic Investigations Team responded and assumed the investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2001 Toyota Celica, traveling at a high rate of speed, collided with the center median, crossed over into oncoming lanes, and collided with a 2008 Nissan Maxima in a head-on collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
