Shooting - Boulevard
June 24, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that a woman has been arrested on suspicion of shooting her daughter in Boulevard.
On Friday, June 23 just before 10:00 a.m., deputies from the Sheriff's Rural Command responded to a call about a 22-year-old woman who had arrived at a fire station located in the 36000 block of Church Road with a gunshot wound.
As deputies began to investigate the incident, they learned the victim and her mother, Andrea Najera (DOB 01/22/1981), had gotten into an argument earlier that morning inside their home located near the fire station.
During the argument, Najera retrieved a shotgun. The victim attempted to take it from her. As they struggled over the weapon, the gun went off and the victim was struck in the abdomen. The injured woman was flown by air ambulance to a hospital. She is expected to survive.
Deputies responded to the home where Najera surrendered without incident. She was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility.
