Death Investigation - Unincorporated El Cajon 

June 24, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on June 22, 2023, at about 9:45 A.M., the Sheriff's Department san diego county sheriff department logoreceived a radio call of two deceased adults at a residence in the 200 block of E. Bradley Avenue, in the unincorporated area of El Cajon.

The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Eric Orpinela and his wife 39-year-old Denise Helen Orpinela. They were parents to three children, ages 9, 13 and 14. The children were not injured and are being cared for.

The autopsies in the case have been completed. The preliminary results indicate the manner of death for both Denise and Eric was a gunshot wound. The cause of death for Denise was homicide. The cause of death for Eric was suicide. Eric has been identified as the only suspect in the deaths.

The circumstances and motivation for this crime are currently under investigation.
