July 8, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report on carjacking in unincorporated Escondido.

Do you recognize the man in this sketch? The San Marcos Sheriff's Station and San Diego County Crime Stoppers need your help in identifying him and another suspect responsible for a carjacking in Unincorporated Escondido.

It happened on June 12 just before 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Old Highway 395 and Circle R Way. The victim told deputies he was driving when he noticed a woman in a bicycle on the side of the road who appeared to be in distress. When he pulled over to check on the woman, a black Honda hatchback pulled up behind him. A man got out of the Honda, approached the victim, and pulled out a gun on him. The suspect told him to give him his wallet and money. The victim told the suspect he didn't have any money, but he could take his car. The male suspect got into the victim's car and drove away. The woman got into the male suspect's Honda and drove away.

The victim was not hurt. His car was found abandoned the following day. The suspects are still at large.

Suspect #1 is described as Hispanic man with a heavy build in his 30s-40s, standing approximately 5'5" tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He has a full beard, curly hair, and unknown tattoos above his eyelids. The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt.

Suspect #2 is described as a light-skinned woman in her 30s-40s, wearing a grey t-shirt and riding a purple and green Kent bicycle.
