July 18, 2023 - San Diego Police Department officials report that a repeat offender is behind bars.

A repeat offender has been sentenced to 53-years-to-life in state prison for attacking a San Diego PD officer.  In July 2021, Officer Christopher Pate pulled the man over during a traffic stop. The suspect put his vehicle in reverse and struck the officer, leaving him with serious leg injuries.

The man, 31-year-old Moses Correa, was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. Correa has a long criminal history. He was also convicted of robbing two Mira Mesa area businesses that same week, domestic violence, and other crimes out of state. Under California's three-strikes law, adding a 25-year-to-life term to his sentence.

Thank you to the jury for ensuring that justice has been served for Officer Pate and the many other victims impacted by this career criminal.  Also thank you to the @sddistatty for putting in the hard work and long hours in this case.
